I Drift

A strong gust of wind
Separated me from the tree
Down I fell into the river
Drifting away carefree

An interesting experience it was
Never have I felt this
A strange fear of the unknowns ahead
Different from the steady bliss

I landed at the home of a lotus
In her love I began to sway
Such a caring being she was
I promised a forever stay
Alas! time weakened our bond
And I moved away

The vines near the river bank
Invited me with a beautiful song
The flowers questioned me
'Lost are you? Where had you been gone?
Return back oh leaflet!
To the place where you belong'

Do I belong to the tree
Where I had been born
Or at the abode of the lotus
Whose love turned to be an everlasting thorn

Drifting is so peaceful
Destiny-less travel without any care
It also makes me wonder
Do I belong anywhere?
